CHANGING PERSPECTIVES: COMBINING EARTH SCIENCE AND ART

Get ready for Science + Engineering! The Leonardo’s workshops for K-12 educators offer strategies for teaching science, engineering design, coding and more! Earn up to two relicensure points for attending.  While you join us for a Saturday workshop, children in your immediate family (up to 4 members, ages 5-12) are invited to participate in our FREE Youth Activity. Pre-registration is required.

Explore the earth from new perspectives, and even make your own. This arts-integrated science curriculum trains teachers to help students explore the world from the perspective of a bird, plane, or satellite. Take this new perspective and make your own work of art using a shadowbox and collage. This workshop is designed for 4thgrade teachers, but all are welcome. Pre-registration is required. Attending teachers can receive 5 relicensure points.

Dr. Wendi Laurence is an expert in STEAM education. She currently works in a SLC school, contracts as an education consultant, and teaches graduate courses at Portland State University. Wendi’s research is based on using visual tools to help students develop their understanding of STEAM topics.  She is a former NASA AESP educator and the 2016 NSTA Wendell G. Mohling Outstanding Aerospace Educator awardee.
